EXPERIENCE
Kari Cole, a native New Mexican, has both litigation and state and federal legislative experience. She has been practicing law in New Mexico since 2003 and has been with German • Burnette & Associates since April 2014. She also spent 5 years working in Congress as a Legislative Aide and worked as staff and/or lobbied at the New Mexico Legislature for 14 years on various issues. Ms. Cole has experience in the defense of public entities and public employees in litigation alleging civil rights violations, tort liability, and medical malpractice. She has represented state agencies and employees before State and Federal courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and participated in State Personnel Board proceedings. She has represented state entities and public employees in over 350 mediations and federal settlement conferences involving allegations of civil rights violations (§ 1983, Title VII), the NM Human Rights Act; the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, NM Tort Claims Act, medical malpractice, and other complex litigation. Kari is also an experienced hearing officer.

Ms. Cole lives in Santa Fe with her long-term partner, Philip Larragoite. She enjoys spending time with her large extended family, close friends, watching classic old movies, traveling, reading, gardening and playing with her dog, Maya.
